Enjoy The Magic of Mallorca This Summer

Few holiday islands can match the magic of Mallorca.  As the biggest of the Balearics boasts an abundance of beautiful beaches – as well as stunning pine clad mountain ranges.  Creating a picturesque backdrop for those seeking to swap the British summer for the tranquility of this island idyll.

Mallorca, or Majorca as it is known in the UK, has of course had a reputation in the past as something of a package tourist destination.  Earned chiefly by resorts such as Magaluf.  But that type of holidaymaker is one the wane – replaced instead by a more sophisticated type of tourist.  Many of whom are seeking to book holiday villas in Puerto Pollensa and similar areas in the north of the island.  Where there is a fantastic selection of rental properties available – as well as plenty of stunning beaches and quiet coves.

The north of the island is dominated by the breathtaking Tramuntana Mountains and the Sierra del Norte range, which provides a very scenic backdrop for a number of coastal resorts such as Cala San Vicente.  And which is where tourists will find the best selection of holiday villas in Majorca.

The resorts in the north are ideal for both families and couples alike – with the south of the island better suited to younger holidaymakers.  And most lie in close proximity to the historic town of Pollensa, a former Roman settlement that is home to a wealth of pretty squares and old buildings some of which date back as far as the 13th century.  As well as the famous Calvary Hill, with its 365 steps – one for each day of the year.

The capital city of Palma remains the real historic heart of the island though.  As here tourists can view the majestic and famous cathedral, La Llotja – which dates back to the 11th century and the former Islamic fortress that is now the home of the National Heritage Museum.  Which was first constructed in the 1300´s.

Mallorca is also blessed with more than its fair share of natural wonders and beauty spots.  Chief amongst which are the impressive cave systems where tourists can se massive subterannean lakes.  And the impressive scenery of the Formenter Peninsula, which grants great views down to the coast.  The antique railway that runs into the pretty vilage of Soller is also a must.

Mallorca is a wonderful holiday destination and flights from the UK to the island take just over two hours.  With services available form all major UK airports.
